Welcome to Les Tilleuls, our charming old village house situated in quiet countryside of Burgundy. Close to the famous vineyards of Clos de Vougeot and Nuits St. Georges, yet only 10 minutes drive from the motorway.
At Les Tilleuls, with its 5 beautifully appointed bedrooms, Gite, large relaxing lounge and beautiful gardens, it will not take long for you to find a sense of calm after your journey. In the lounge and dining area you can relax and enjoy a fine glass of Burgundy or sample a Kir and then explore the library with its wide selection of books & useful tourist information to browse through. From the lounge, step through the patio doors into the south facing gardens, with its lawns & flower beds a perfect place to relax, discuss the day, plan the next, think about dinner, or watch the sun go down.
The village of Epernay-sous-Gevrey is so peaceful you would be forgiven in thinking that you are the its only residents - but on its doorstep, Burgundy awaits. It has something for everyone, Walking, Cycling, Swimming, Golfing, Fishing, Chateaux and Vineyards of course. The Cote d'Or also has so many towns and villages just waiting to be explored such as Beaune, Gevrey Chambertin, Morey St Denis, Chambolle Musigny, Abbey de Citeaux & just a short distance from Les Tilleuls, stunning and historic Dijon. We will be happy to share the delights of our region, recommend a special place to eat and make a reservation for dinner.
A small sample of what people are saying about us.
What a little gem, my son-in-law and I arrived late at night only to receive a warm and friendly greeting from both Pam and Neil. This was most welcome after a long drive from the Limoux area. After a cold beer and a brief description of the area by both Neil and Pam we settled for the night in a delightfully decorated and comfortable bedroom and with the windows open we both slept very soundly. A simple but satisfying breakfast and again a description of the best wines and vineyards in the area were received and enabled me to realise a dream by visiting the Romanee Vosne vineyard. Neil recommended the table wine "Domaine Dufouler" from his stock and it was excellent both in taste and value. The interior decorating is very special and very pasifying, well done Pam. I look forward to my next visit.
Such a lovely bed and breakfast, we stopped here on our way to the Alps and on our return being just a short drive from the motorway. Pam and Neil are very welcoming and we enjoyed their hospitality and were very grateful of many pots of tea after our traveling. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated definately worth a visit as a stop over or to enjoy the beautiful region.
My wife and I were touring Europe on our Harley Davidsons for our honeymoon when we booked into Neil and pams B&B, we pulled up outside and immediately received a warm welcome they were very interested in our bikes. The accommodation was beautiful a newly decorated room which Pam described as the bridal suit and it was not disappointing. They were both very knowledgable about the local region and wine and were very helpful, they booked us a table at a restaurant they recommended. We wouldn't hesitate in retuning thank you for hosting us and the debate on which of pam's home made jams is still raging between my wife and I.
Les Tilleuls is situated in a quiet rural hamlet but is only ten minutes off the motorway which is ideal after several hours driving. We have stayed at Les Tilleuls a number of times in the last 13 years both as an overnight stop on the way south and for longer breaks in the Burgundy region. We must have stayed in all of the rooms during this time and each one has always been spotlessly clean ,beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. We have also enjoyed a family holiday staying in their beautiful self contained three bedroomed apartment whish was a real "home from home" and proved to be an excellent base from which to explore this part of France. Pam and Neil have directed us to restaurants where we have enjoyed some of our most memorable gastronomic treats any where in France not to mention the fabulous wines. To save us trying to struggle on the phone Pam always reserves us a table which is a big help. The warm welcome that we have always received from Neil and Pam has made it feel like visiting old friends right from our very first visit and we really wouldn't look any further.
Traveling to the Burgundy region of France and experiencing fine
wine and food is easy enough to accomplish. Traveling to the Burgundy
region of France and experiencing hospitality of the best kind
is another matter altogether. Fortunately, for us, we were able
to savour both.
Les Tilleuls, located in Epernay-sous-Gevrey, a mere half hour drive from Dijon, exuded all the charm, hospitality and friendliness that one would expect to match the utter beauty of the area. Pam and Neil Aitkins, transplanted from Bonny Scotland, are the owners of Les Tilleuls, and it is apparent at once that we were going to enjoy ourselves. We were not merely visitors or tourists to one of the most beautiful regions in France, we were cherished guests in Pam and Neil's home, and that came across in many ways!
Our room was pristine in its cleanliness and magnificent in the view we had of a small village's clear and crisp night sky which we were able to savour from our attached balcony. While our room was the only one with a balcony, the other rooms which we were able to glance into were as tastefully set up and clean beyond any expectations. The bathroom was large and contained a spacious and modern shower.
Breakfast, which is included, is typical continental, but filling and very good. In addition, Pam and Neil can sell you a number of different wines from the regions at better prices than you can find in many of the stores in the area. Their knowledge of the area is second to none and they can direct you to any number of different attractions and restaurants that are within a 30 minute drive.
Our stay was regrettably short (only 3 nights), but this is one situation that will be rectified on our next trip there. Pam and Neil are the ultimate hosts, a fact that is supported by the care they provide to their guests and the pride they show in their B&B. Your stay with them will more than round out your travels to that very special wine region in France.
After a conference in Paris, I decided to drive to Burgundy for the weekend. My previous sleeping arrangements had fallen through, and I found myself in Nuits-St-Georges at 7pm on a Friday, calling up all the bed-and-breakfasts I could find on Tripadvisor. Pam at Les Tilleuls was amazingly warm and welcoming. She managed to find a place for me, one night in a standard room, one night in a room of the huge apartment that they rent out. The rooms were bright, clean, and beautiful. The village of Epernay-sous-Gevrey is a sleepy medieval village a stone's throw away from the Grand-Cru vineyards and the chateaux of Burgundy; and Pam and Neil were full of recommendations on what to see and do.
